Job Summary
We are looking for an outstanding individual who has a proven
record in commercial and residential plan review to assist our
Building and Safety Division (BSD) to better serve our community.
This position provides all electronic plan review of building plans
with modern computer-aided technology while meeting BSD guarantees
and goals. The successful candidate will counsel customers on
appropriate permits, building code requirements, plan review
submittal requirements, enter accurate data into computer records,
and calculate fees. The candidate will also respond to inquiries
from the public and other city departments. The ideal candidate is
a seasoned plan reviewer with people-oriented skills able to work
independently, accomplish daily plan review timelines while working
with walk-in-customers.
Candidates will be expected to work full-time in office until it
has been determined by their supervisor that they are capable of
working from home. A work-from-home hybrid program is available to
most employees that have demonstrated sufficient training to work

Plans Examiner I Salary: $31.61 - $38.81 hourly
Plans Examiner II Salary: $35.74 - $43.75 hourly
Candidates with Plans Examiner I/II qualifying certifications may
receive an additional $3.03 - $9.08 hourly.

Our Building and Safety Division provides exceptional service to
the Salem area construction industry. We provide plan review,
permitting, and inspection of commercial and residential
construction to ensure compliance with Oregon State Building Code
and city of Salem codes. In a recent audit, our stakeholders
