The HVAC position is an advanced journey level classification that performs routine and complex installation, repair, and maintenance of building heating and cooling systems and equipment. The successful candidate will be able to effectively and efficiently perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment, monitor and operate HVAC control systems, as well as, replace and install new equipment and parts on HVAC systems. In this role, candidates should be able to work with an array of tools and power equipment, as well as have the ability to perform strenuous manual tasks and climb extension ladders. Education and Experience A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: A high school diploma or equivalent; AND Three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment; OR Associate's degree in HVAC/R or equivalent field of study; AND One (1) year of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Must be willing to work on assigned on-call weekends and evenings.
