We are hiring an ambitious Food Science Intern to join our diverse Technical Service team at Kerr Concentrates, an Ingredion Company. In this internship, you will support internal projects related to processing fruit and vegetable ingredients for use in product segments such as beverage, dairy, savory (soups & sauces), confectionery, and other potential applications identified. You will be responsible for assisting teammates in developing foundational knowledge on potential raw material, processing to contribute as well as to support the scale up in our production facility.You will have the chance to define and build relationships within our technical service team, acting as a great teammate to meet internal deadlines and expectations. Our Technical Service Group is focused on delivering solutions that bring value for our customers and have decades of experience in fruit and vegetable sourcing, manufacturing, and selling. You will also learn how to participate as a member of the Research and Development Team.As a Food Science Intern, your responsibilities will include:Managing work projects, working both independently and collaboratively with others, to meet project timelines and deliverablesConducting literature searches, assimilate information and apply to benchtop or production trials to advance projectsWorking with team members to design, conduct and analyze trials and experimental dataMaintaining a clean, safe work environment; following established guidelines for good housekeeping, GMP's, and safetyWorking with our Technical Service team members and other internal colleagues to meet target objectivesPresenting new ingredients post-processing, project status, updates and outcomes to team and key partnersThe Food Science Intern position is well-suited for you if you: Push to continually drive personal and organizational results, take educated risks on business opportunities and benchmark external best practices to outperform the competitionBuild a talent culture founded on a strong conviction that superior talent delivers superior results; scout to find the best people, drive performance, coach transparently, and build strong teams globally.Regularly identify areas that can be improved and constructively propose new solutions that increase value and improve business performance; as well as explore multiple possibilities for tackling challenges, think "out of the box" to determine the best solution.Challenge the status quo and promote ambitious thinking in order to add new valueQualified candidates will have: Progress towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Mechanical Engineering, or BusinessMinimum 3.0 GPA requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Interest in hands-on food product or food ingredient development using laboratory and pilot plant equipment/processesFamiliarity with experimental design, statistical data analysis and interpretation of resultsExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical reportsAbility to think and work independently while collaborating with others in a team-based environmentDemonstrated ability to deliver against agreed deadlinesTo be eligible for consideration, candidates must: Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
