Job Description:

Overview
The Earth and Biological Sciences Directorate (EBSD) leads novel and necessary research in three core areas: Atmospheric and Climate Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Environmental Molecular Sciences. The contributions of EBSD staff are many as we continue to elevate the impact of PNNL's science mission: to understand, predict, and control the complex adaptive systems underlying the science behind Earth, energy, and security.
The Biological Sciences Division (BSD) at PNNL is seeking a Computational Scientist to contribute to research on the molecular processes in controlling the functioning of biological and ecological systems across spatial and temporal scales. The candidate will design, develop and implement methods for mass spectrometry data analysis processes into robust open-source software. The candidate will be responsible for software development and validation for metabolomics and proteomics data processing from high-throughput mass spectrometry platforms and be expected to work directly with analytical chemists and experimental biologists in interdisciplinary teams. Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, R) and knowledge of software engineering best practices is expected, and experience with software containerization and cloud native applications is highly desirable. The candidate should have excellent communication skills with a demonstrated interest in multi-disciplinary, collaborative research.
