Summary

The Maintenance Manager (Waste Water) will be responsible for managing the waste water operations at the facility. This position includes all tasks and operations required to ensure that the plant remains in compliance with permit and legal requirements; reporting to both government and NGOs as required, ensuring all waste water processes are properly maintained and operating, all material needs are available and in good working order, all treatment plan operations are running safely and maintained as a safe work environment and managing the waste water treatment plant operators.

Expectations at Time of Hire
Grade 4 Municipal Waste Water License
Applicable education above the secondary level
Ability to work independent of supervision
Perform sampling and laboratory analytical work
Root cause and problem solving skills
Be able to perform physical labor, i.e. lift 50 pounds
Be able to trouble shoot and repair equipment
Manage and train employees on Waste Water operations
Work with external parties professionally
Understand applicable regulatory requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant.

Adds specified amounts of chemicals such as chlorine, ammonia, lime, and sulfuric acid into water effluent or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify process and effluent water.

Starts agitators to mix chemicals and allows impurities to settle to bottom of tank.

Starts blowers and monitors proper dissolved oxygen levels.

Monitors panel board and adjust controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.

Monitors discharge water (effluent) for flow, B.O.D., T.S.S. on a continuous basis with daily limits.

Cleans tanks and filter beds. Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.

Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities.

Records data such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure.

Communicates with other operations to ensure quality and that delivery needs are met.

Participates in plant wide work teams and trains fellow operators.

Provide support as required by management.

Responsible for following and maintaining all Food Safety requirements.
