The EHS Coordinator ensures the plant complies with the Environmental, Safety, Health & Security standards of the food industry and State/Federal regulatory agencies and laws. - Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel by administering comprehensive programs, educational materials and communicate with all levels of personnel in the facility. - The EHS+s Coordinator is responsible for interaction with internal customers, outside vendors & equipment manufacturers regarding EHS issues. - ESSENTIAL DUTIES - -

  • Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and corporate environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Defense and Building Security Plans.
  • Ensure EHS inclusion in LEAN/Continuous Improvement/TPM processes.
  • Manages contract security guard service including supervising on-site personnel. - PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Owns the Computer Based Training program, training curriculum and other methods of electronic and visual communication utilized by the EHS department.
    • Issues EHS communications including: departmental summaries, feedback from behavioral audits, single point lessons (Safety Alerts) and others.
    • Maintains accuracy of facility regulatory compliance programs and company safety process through: record management, auditing, employee involvement, enforcement and feedback to the EHS team
    • Monitors and ensures completion of corrective actions due to scheduled internal audits, organizational risk assessments, root cause analyses of incidents and external inspections.
    • Provides support and guidance to location leadership team when conducting incident investigations. Assuring the report's timely completion, identification of root cause and corrective actions, and notifying the Sr. Environmental Health and Safety Manager of any incidences within 48 hours
    • Responsible for departmental work plan that includes: contingency planning and emergency preparedness, environmental programs, Food and Employee Security, infrastructure/life safety & DOT programs.
    • Assists EHS Manager with strategies in occupational health and hygiene, workers compensation, social responsibility & Business Continuity.
    • Assures facility compliance with: control of hazardous energy, chemical hygiene, PITO, confined space, electrical work & personal protective equipment.
    • Assures EHS involvement with the company Operating System, LEAN/Continuous Improvement, 5s & TPM.
    • Resource to engineering and maintenance for chemical review, equipment review and on site contractor work.
    • Work with Department managers when interacting with governmental, private contractor, vendor & insurance providers to assure compliance. -
    • Primary contact to the third party Security Service. - Owner of the Site Food Safety and Security Program. -
    • Primary Contact for the: Building Access Card system, Fire Suppression and monitoring system, CCTV, Building Keys, approved contractor and visitor programs.
    • Owns coaching and feedback to participants in the Behavior Based Safety Process
    • Provides leadership to First Responders and Emergency Coordinators during incidents
    • Participate in employee on-boarding process, orientation, authorized LOTO training, Forklift and Pallet Jack skills verification. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • AS degree from college or university in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene/Safety or a related field.
      • 3- 5 years relevant experience in an EHS or related field in a manufacturing environment.
      • Working knowledge of material flow and manufacturing operations.
      • Fluency in Microsoft Office and various environmental software programs.
