Routing Consultant PositionTransPar Group, which provides consulting services to include school bus routing to the State of Hawaii s Department of Education (DOE) Student Transportation Services Branch (STSB), is seeking an individual to support their school bus route management operations in Honolulu, Hawaii. Job responsibilities include using a software routing application (Transfinder Plus) to develop and manage efficient and effective routing schemes. The ability to manipulate geospatial data to evaluate routes and schedules is strongly desired. The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required. The candidate will be expected to work independently and within a cohesive office team.SummaryThe office is in Honolulu; geographically, the Kaimuki area. STSB is responsible for statewide program planning, budgeting, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating student transportation services for eligible public-school students in accordance with Section 302-406, Hawaii Revised Statues.This position with TransPar is responsible for project expertise and will plan, develop, adjust, and analyze school bus routes and schedules in the department s automated route planning and optimization software program within assigned geographic areas across the state. The position also provides data and data analysis technical support and consultation to School Bus Transportation Officers (who are employed by the Hawai_i DOE) on route optimization system algorithms to improve efficiency and effectiveness of bus trips and route schedules; maintain the quality and accuracy of student / vehicle / driver information and all other required metadata to ensure that the software program is operating at an optimal level; collect, organize, and analyze school and student data; and, prepare reports as required.Key job responsibilities will includeRequired skills:

  • Work collaboratively and independently as a member of an integrated office environment
  • Flexibility to take direction from multiple reporting seniors
  • Produce self-directed work and positive results in the absence of clear direction
  • Assist with the implementation of information technology on various levels
  • Work directly with various staff to extract data from exiting systems for analysis in standard office suite products
  • Follow prescribed departmental analytical techniques and use prescribed analytical tools to organize, manipulate, synthesize, and analyze source geospatial financial, and logistical data
  • Develop and document effective visual methods to clearly and concisely communicate the results of completed analyses
  • Communicate the analytical methodology pursued and the results achieved in verbal presentations to project managers, school staff as necessary and outside contractors
  • Document the results of all work in clear, concise, effective prose
  • Assist with customer communications and management
  • Utilize industry standard geographic information system software to support analytical workEducation & ExperienceGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in a related discipline preferred including:
    • Geospatial Information Systems (GIS)
    • Information Technology
    • Business (logistics or operations focus)Routing Software Experience preferred especially in Transfinder Plus but will train the right candidate.Candidates with specific school bus routing experience may be able to work remotely outside of the state of Hawai_i.Salary$50,000 or more, depending on experience
