Community Health Nurse 2-VA & LCH Print (/lincoln/job/_bulletin.cfm?jobID=2558401&sharedWindow=0) Apply Community Health Nurse 2-VA & LCH Salary $60,516.00 - $64,200.00 Annually Location Lincoln County, OR Job Type Full-Time Department HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES Job Number 19-74 (502-2) Closing Continuous + Description + Benefits + Questions Position Summary The Lincoln Community Health Center (LCHC) / VA nurse works in a professional community clinic nursing role to provide primary health care associated with the evaluation of health status, screening of medical problems and management of client health care in VA and Primary Care Clinics. Teaches and counsels clients on general health maintenance. Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures related to medical services and security. Must pass the Veteran's Affairs Federal Background Check. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities a)Provides effective, efficient and safe nursing care in the clinic. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and adherence to applicable policies and procedures. Models applicable policies and procedures with subordinate staff. b)Participates in assessing, planning and implementing in delivery of patient care. Continuously plans, organizes, coordinates, monitors and evaluates patient care in the clinic. Consistently sets appropriate priorities in providing good patient care that is organized and time conscious. Utilizes staff feedback in patient care. Maintains and ensures confidentiality of patient's conditions and records and of other data on a consistent basis. c)Performs direct care activities by administering medications, observing and documenting patient responses and/or side effect(s). Administers interventions/treatments according to established protocols. d)Provides an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for all patients and families. Creates and maintains a high performance clinic environment characterized by positive role model, leadership, and strong team orientation. e)Communicates, as necessary, with other clinic and departmental personnel to coordinate efforts, resolve operational problems, and provide high quality, comprehensive patient care. f)Ability to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. g)Adheres to security and privacy rules and regulations of the facility and the VA. Typical Qualifications SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS: Knowledge of primary care nursing principles and practices, including preventive measures in the maintenance of health in the community. Knowledge of the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics, and medical record keeping practices. Knowledge of all clinical skills including physical assessment, interpretation of lab tests. Ability to analyze health problems through medical and running histories. Physical capability to interact with others and perform mobility requirements of the position. Ability to deal with sensitive issues such as HIV draws, testing and counseling, and pregnancy testing and counseling. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES REQUIRED: Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing meets the educational requirement. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing is preferred. Must possess a valid active unencumbered license to practice in the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse in accordance with applicable Oregon Revised Statutes at the time of appointment. Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies for the Latino population are preferred. This position also requires an insurable driving record and a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of appointment. The employee is required to maintain current and active licensures and certifications, as applicable, and to provide the appropriate verifications at the time of renewals NOTE: Employee is responsible for maintaining current and active licensure/certification and to provide verification at time of renewal. The County's current contribution rate is 11%.
