Job Description Corban University Position Description HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST I DEPARTMENT: Human Resources Office REPORTS TO: AVP for People and Culture FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Not Eligible for Overtime JOB FAMILY: Human Resources CREATED: April 2022 CORBAN UNIVERSITY---S MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ. POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the AVP for People and Culture, and the Human Resources Team by doing strategic and operational management activities related to human resources functions for the University. This position does work in several human resource functional areas. These areas include, but are not limited to recruitment and selection, HR compliance and reporting management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 45% Recruitments and Hiring Process requisition requests in HRIS system. Post recruitments to other websites (i.e., Linked In, Handshake, Facebook etc.) Candidate management and follow-through. Manage hiring processes for administrative staff, adjunct instructors, and athletics. Check applicants for minimum qualifications Selection process Background checks I-9 processes W-4 processes Closing recruitment processes. Assist with interview processes and questions submissions. Facilitate employment hiring paperwork completion. Educate and train others regarding processes, procedures and best practices for recruiting, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding employees. 35% Administrative Classification and Compensation benchmarking market analysis Collect information from managers for new hire and separating employees to produce the Employee Relationship News email to all employees. CCCU, CUPA, IPEDS, EEOC, OSHA and other reporting requirements. Reconciliation of Retiree Insurance payments. Payroll liaison. Assist with policy and procedure development, education, and distribution. Create, update, and maintain employee position descriptions. HR and payroll records management. Create and maintain university organizational position charts. Assist with tracking and managing the performance evaluation process 10% Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic knowledge of: Practices involved in human resource functions. Principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution. This includes operational planning, resources allocation, and production methods. Numbers, their operations and interrelationships, including; arithmetic, algebra, statistics and their applications. Structure and content of the English language such as, the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Automated data systems and associated software such as spreadsheet and word processing, or tracking databases. Written communication methods with others in writing based on the needs of the audience. Verbal communication methods with others to effectively convey or receive information. Use of tact and diplomacy with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Identification of the nature of problems. Finding and identifying essential information. Approval processes and ability to process requests, paperwork and day-to-day administrative tasks. Use of logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches. Appropriate use of judgements about or assessments of the value, importance or quality of things or people. Evaluation of information against a set of standards and verify that it is correct. Identification of underlying principles, reasons or facts by breaking down information or data into separate parts. Compilation, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, verification or processing of information or data. Development of constructive and cooperative working relationships with others. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor---s degree in Human Resource Management, Organization Behavior, Business Administration, OR job-related course of study determined by the AVP for People and Culture; and two years Human Resource professional-level experience related to the position; OR; Valid Certification as a Professional in Human Resource awarded by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and one-year Human Resource professional-level experience; OR; Three years Human Resource paraprofessional or technical-level experience. Valid Certification as a SHRM Certified Professional substitutes for one year of human resource professional-level experience. WORKING CONDITIONS: Traditional office environment. Heavy computer usage. Must be able to lift a maximum of 25 pounds, be on feet for extended periods of time occasionally, able to operate various types of office equipment.
