Responsibilities: The Periop Nurse manager provides oversight of
day-to-day unit functioning, guiding charge nurses, ensuring
adherence to standards of care, and maintining safe patient flow
through the peri-anesthesia continuum overseeing and leading the
PAS, SSU and PACU teams. Nurse Manager also serves as the
accountable department manager for a designated patient care
unit/department(s). She/he has responsibility for all daily
operational activities including departmental planning related to
staffing, scheduling, and budget, ensuring appropriate systems and
processes for the efficient delivery of care, and ensuring
safe/high quality care and an outstanding experience for patients
and their families. This leadership role assumes 24 hours a day,
seven days a week responsibility for all department functions. The
manager is responsible for maintaining effective interprofessional
communication and a positive work environment that supports and
embraces the principles of shared governance. The manager is also
responsible for ensuring that staff are educated and competent to
care for the patients under their care. The manager routinely
collaborates; works effectively with physicians, peers and other
Legacy leadership to meet the strategic objectives of Legacy.
Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, selection,
education, and evaluation of staff. Assesses technical and
professional education needs of staff and develops or provides
educational resources to meet those needs. Ensures competency of
all caregivers. Designs a staffing plan to meet the needs of the
patients being served and ensures appropriate allocation of
resources to meet departmental needs. Monitors performance of staff
and departmental processes. Provides timely feedback and coaching;
implements corrective action practices when appropriate. Creates
and maintains a positive work environment that supports a culture
of shared decision making and open communication. Holds staff
accountable for patient and unit outcomes. Plans and manages for
the business priorities and clinical needs of the department.
Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient
care services in the department. Develops the departmental budget;
makes decisions regarding expenditures of funds to meet department
objectives and maintains costs within budgeted amounts.
Demonstrates knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory, and
administrative requirements relative to departmental operations /
accreditation. Maintains compliance with all applicable state and
federal regulations, hospital and departmental policies and
procedures. Qualifications: Education: An academic degree in
nursing is required (BSN or MSN/MN); master’s degree required,
MSN/MN preferred. Internal candidates promoting from Assistant
Nurse Manager may meet the master’s degree requirement with
verification of a master’s degree in progress with an expected
completion date within 2 years of the promotion date; progress will
be reported periodically to the site CNO. Assistant Nurse Managers
filling this role on an interim basis are not required to have an
MSN/MN in progress so long as the assignment does not exceed 3
months, unless approved by CNO . Experience: Two years of
leadership practice experience required. Demonstrated growth in
leadership responsibilities and breadth desired. Previous clinical
experience specific to the appropriate area of specialty practice
is highly desirable. Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of clinical
operations, including staffing and scheduling, budget management,
workflow planning, staff development, quality, safety and patient
experience management. Excellent communication (verbal and written)
and leadership skills, and a willingness to lead by example.
Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems
applicable to job functions are essential. Licensure: Current RN
licensure for applicable state. BLS for Provider certification from
the American Heart Association required. Specialty specific
certification highly desirable. Pay Range: USD $78.22 - USD $118.10
