Individuals in this role collect and validate patient insurance information, identification, prepares registration forms, and collects fees as required to coordinate activities for patients to receive care.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Ability to interact effectively, and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgroundsSustain excellent patient interactions using clear communication and problem-solving skillsAssess walk-in traffic for potential emergenciesCheck-in patients at the front desk in perpetration for their appointment with a provider and scan all documents into the patient's chartAssist patients with completion of pre-registration forms, ensuring all items are signed, and medical records are distributedInforms patients of costs of care being provided. Collect all fees and apply to patients' chart Collect and record copayments and outstanding balances, and balance cash drawer dailyCover medical records and prior authorizations when neededCommunicate efficiently to back-office staff regarding needs of patientsMaintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all timesAnswer the phone in a professional manner and follow procedures for routing callsEnsure reception area and waiting rooms are clean. Regularly sanitize counters, surfaces, and reception area itemsPerform other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications:Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.Certificate/License: None.Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience is required.Working Conditions and Physical Demands:Requires prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires an uninhibited driver's license to accommodate travel to off-site meetings and workgroup sessions.Fast passed clinical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions. All employees are required to comply with federal, state and organizational policies regarding confidentiality. Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions and occasionally work irregular hours.
