SALARY: $60,000-$70,000/year Last Revised February 2022 UNIVERSITY
MISSION: To educate Christians who will make a difference in the
world for Jesus Christ. LOCATION: Corban University's 220+ acre
campus is situated on a hillside forest setting overlooking the
Willamette Valley, just minutes from the heart of Salem, Oregon's
capital city. The rugged coast awaits only an hour's drive to the
west. To the east is the mountainous Cascade Range. Portland, the
state's largest city, is less than an hour away and is home to
cultural museums, parks, shopping, and restaurants. SUMMARY: The
Director of Financial Aidproviders leadership and oversight for
financial aid administration processes. The Director ensures data
integrity, compliance with federal, state and other program
regulations, financial aid program administration and delivery of
excellent customer service to students, families, faculty and
staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide leadership in the Financial Aid office.
- Manage staff in the Financial Aid office including recruitment
and selection, training, staff development, evaluation, and
feedback
- Develop and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure
compliance, efficiency, student success, and data integrity.
- Build relationships and work collaboratively with other
University departments, including Advancement, Registrars,
Admissions, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technologies,
Student Life, Athletics, Student Accounts, faculty departments and
the Provost Office.
- Provide leadership, training and expertise in the areas of
compliance and best practices.
- Inform the University Cabinet of changing industry standards
and provide recommendations for system and process
improvements.
- Manage the operational budget for the Financial Aid office
- Design, develop and adapt the University's financial aid
program to fit the need of its students and the University, with a
very high standard of customer service.
- Develop and recommend financial aid policy which will ensure
fair and consistent administration of financial aid programs.
- Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of fund awards and
disbursements.
- Serve as an institutional liaison, ensuring the University's
compliance with federal, state and private regulations relating to
Financial Aid programs, including Title IV financial aid
regulations.
- Analyze student financial needs within the prescribed
discounting goals of the University.
- Provide reports, useful analysis and constructive suggestions
to various departments, including Enrollment Management, the
Registrar's office and the Financial Services office, among
others.
- Keep University administration apprised of significant trends,
legislation and federal and state programs.
- Manage the distribution of all financial aid to Corban's
students.
- Coordinate with the external auditors for the annual Uniform
Guidance audit. Serve as the departmental contact with the
auditors.
- Coordinate with the Finance Office to provide materials and
information required for the annual financial statement audit.
- Provide quality financial counseling to students and their
families regarding available resources to finance educational
goals
- Complete and respond to financial aid specific surveys and
reports
- Identify and support training needs of Financial Aid personnel
to promote productivity and effectiveness.
- Attend regular training and conferences to remain current on
changing industry regulations, trends, and best practices.
- Define project goals and complete projects while adhering to
established timelines.
- Contribute to the support and implementation of the University
Strategic Plan
- Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
ABILITIES:
- Five years of experience in financial aid and/or student
financial services
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Strategic and organizational agility with the ability to
collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization
including internal and external constituencies
- Experience as a supervisor with effective managerial,
leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality
- Excellent oral and written communication, public presentation
and customer service skills
- Proficient in computer programs including Windows, Outlook,
Word, Excel and the Internet
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively solve
problems and initiate and implement projects independently
- Ability to multi-task with accuracy and meet deadlines in a
fast-paced environment QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated expertise in Financial Aid regulations and
processes
