Save Skills - Customer Service Benefits - Paid Time Off Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Administrative Specialist 1 (Criminal Justice Scheduling Specialist) If you are a current State of Oregon employee, please complete an internal application through your Workday Employee Account. This is one, regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (at 4190 Aumsville Hwy SE). This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies. This position is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. About DPSST: The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators. The position: This position coordinates with training units of state, county, and municipal public safety agencies and private safety agencies employing public safety personnel; interpreting anding laws, rules and regulations relating to training and certification of public safety personnel. The position negotiates solutions to basic training needs; provides technical information regarding agency services; interprets and gains compliance with OARs and ORS; investigates circumstances and resolves conflicts regarding denial or acceptance into mandated courses. It is responsible for reviewing application materials for compliance with requirements and scheduling public safety personnel into appropriate academy training as required for certification . To view a full list of duties, please click here . Working Conditions: This position has normal office working conditions using a computer daily. Occasional travel is required to attend trainings and meetings. Minimum Qualifications: Three years of clerical/secretarial experience which included: two years at a full performance level performing typing, word processing, or other generation of documents and lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures. Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the clerical/secretarial experience. No substitution will be made for the two years at the full performance level. Requested skills: Excellent customer service and communication skills, over the phone, in person and in writing for both internal and external customers. Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others. Demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately with shifting priorities while demonstrating strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Must be self-motivated and be able to meet numerous deadlines with frequent interruptions in daily work schedules. Demonstrated ability to be flexible, embrace change, foster diversity, and able to maintain a positive attitude through a challenging and dynamic environment.
