OFS provides full cycle accounting for both Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA); agencies whose missions are to ensure safety, health and independence for all Oregonians. What you will be doing: These positions use the Statewide Financial Management Application (SFMA) or subsidiary systems to perform financial transactions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract payables, grants, payroll garnishments, cash receipting, account and systems reconciliations. May reconcile accounts, initiate corrections, and make adjusting entries. What is in it for you You will join a team of accounting professionals to prepare various financial reports such as statements of cash receipts and disbursements, accounts payable and receivable, and other detail and summary reports pertinent to the operation DHS-OHA. Assist staff to solve technical problems, applies thorough understanding of the operation of SFMA or subsidiary systems to troubleshoot issues. Participate in process improvement activities related to work area. These positions are in the Office of Financial Services (OFS) under the Department of Human Services/Shared Services. Positions within Shared Services provide services to DHS and OHA. There are THREE permanent full-time positions located in Salem (500 Summer St NE). These positions are represented by a union. WORKING CONDITIONS + These positions work closely with and provide service and support to internal and external customers. + These positions work in a fast-paced, open work environment, with frequent interruptions. + The incumbents must be able to work independently and with little supervision. This is what you need to qualify Three years of technical support accounting experience. Two years of the experience must include: a) coding transactions and checking them for propriety, b) balancing, and c) resolving discrepancies in computer edits. OR At least 90 quarter (60 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (9 semester) hours in accounting. Training or experience must include operating a ten-key calculator by touch and using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information. ***To receive credit for required courses, you must submit a photocopy of transcripts.*** REQUESTED SKILLS + Experience with automated accounting systems and MS Excel. + Ability to communicate well with others, verbally and in writing + Ability to learn new skills. + Desire to look for ways to improve their work processes.
